What are Somatic Movement Fundamentals?

The word somatic is a derivative of the Greek word somatikos, meaning; concerning the body or the soma. It relates to the bodily sensations within movement, as well as the state of one’s personal attention to those sensations. Movement Fundamentals are foundational kinetic chains of movement with proper alignment that provide the basis for all movement that allows us to function within our daily lives.

Using both of these awarenesses, we develop movement skills for the whole being. Starting at the center and moving outward, we build awareness of core strength and alignment to create support for the movement of all 6 limbs; 2 arms, 2 legs, our head, and our tail; while focusing on the whole self; emotionally, physically, and spiritually.
